How to live with an AALAY piece.
Each piece has a specific care guide on its product page. General guidance, by material:
Matte Ceramic-PLA & Sandstone-PLA
Dust gently with a soft, dry microfiber. Avoid chemical cleaners. Do not expose to direct moisture for extended periods. Layer lines can collect dust — a soft brush works well.
Translucent Bio-Silk
Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and a drop of mild soap. Dry immediately. Avoid abrasive sponges. Direct daylight every few weeks keeps the resin lively.
Wood-PLA
Re-oil every 12 months with a clear mineral oil to keep the surface alive. Avoid direct moisture. Do not place in direct sunlight for extended periods.
Brass-Aged Metal
Polish gently with a soft cloth every 6 months. The patina will develop further with time — this is a feature, not a flaw. Do not use chemical brass cleaners on aged pieces.
Bulb replacement
Always switch off and unplug the piece before replacing a bulb. Wattage and socket type are listed on the product page under Specifications. We recommend warm-white LED for the most flattering light.
Before you clean
Switch off and unplug any lit piece. Let the bulb cool for ten minutes.
Layer lines are part of the object. A soft brush lifts dust from them without polishing them away.
